David Landau is a member of the Dramatists Guild and the Mystery Writers of America. An award-winning and published playwright, he has also won a few screenwriting awards and written a number of scripts for video and film. He received the Blackburn Award for Excellence in Playwriting for his hard-boiled romantic comedy Deep Six Holiday, which also won the TownSquare Playhouse New Play contest.
Mr. Landau is perhaps best known as the inventor of the popular interactive mystery play, having written and produced over 1000 productions internationally for the public and private corporations. Murder at Cafe Noir has enjoyed over one hundred productions throughout the United States and Canada and won the Orange Coast Magazine award for Best Dinner Theater in 1991. Dinner theaters continue to produce his plays and Samuel French has published seven of his works.
In film, he has written and directed several interactive ventures, including his festival award-winning feature Murder at Café Noir and some direct-to-video DVDs, such as the mystery game Stab in the Dark and the children’s DVD Story Time Santa, both sold at Party City. Most recently, David was the co-writer and co-director on the feature film Dark Tarot produced by DGW Films. David teaches screenwriting, film and theater at Fairleigh Dickinson University and holds an MFA in Dramatic Writing.
